Last week I travelled with my fellow students to the Peloponnese and explored lots of ancient sites and modern towns, starting with Mycenae.
This cistern was pitch-black at the bottom and made a creepy post-Halloween walk for us.
Day 2 included a visit to Epidaurus, the ancient healing site.
We also had the pleasure of visiting Franchthi Cave (with a stop for a picnic lunch) with our professor, Steve Diamant, who excavated here in the 1960s and 70s!
We stayed in beautiful Nafplio for two nights.
The orange groves surrounding Lerna are almost ready to harvest–we may or may not have taken a few for a snack on the bus.
Tiryns impressed us, even in the rain.
We finally got the chance to explore on our own and climb on some ruins at the Venetian Castle in Nafplio.
Back down 1000ish steps for lunch in Nafplio
Our last stop was Olympia, home of the ancient Olympic games
